Hello Lovelies,

I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day♥ spending it with your special someone or with friends or family. I got to enjoy a long weekend with my family. 🙂 Today’s post is going to be featuring fashion of the 1930s and we’ll be focusing on dresses. I love dresses especially ones that I can wear with leggings!

Unfortunately, in this decade was during the Great Depression which was devastating to many people. Fortunately,  during this time fashion wasn’t compromised.

This decade was big into shoulders, fur, (which surprised me especially during this time, I assumed affluent or celebrities wore fur) shirt dresses, (which I love!) the Indian Saree, and figure-hugging dresses were all the rage.

Hats were an essential fashion accessory.  During this time, a famous costume designer Adrian Greenberg who was most known for his work on the Wizard of Oz started a fashion trend of a tipped hat worn by famous actress Greta Garbo in a movie.

In 1939, the still famous movie Gone with the Wind came out and Scarlett O’Hara’s “barbecue dress” became insanely popular.   This dress was copied numerous times.

Dresses or suits with big sleeves were popular.   A bold hat was used to complete the look.

Dresses throughout the 1930s showcased a women’s curves in figure-hugging dresses.  Clothing designer Madeleine Vionnet made the bias cut dress in vogue.   Unlike the previous decade, dresses were long again.

Well, there you have it!  Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I had fun researching the fashion during this time. 🙂

Cheers,

~Ruth
